Craiglockhart Extension

This 1920s villa located in Craiglockhart, a suburb in the south west of Edinburgh, has been given a new life. The Client’s aspirations were to extend the existing house to better suit modern living standards while enhancing natural beauty of the building.

The key aspiration of the project was to incorporate an open plan living space suitable for entertaining family and friends, by altering and extending the property. Features of the1920s villa were updated including subtle changes to the existing layout, an increased connection to the rear garden, and a replacement of the existing windows to those typical of the original character of the property. A timber clad kitchen extension was created, separated from the existing property by a contemporary glass link.

Subtle landscaping works allowed the changes to blend within the mature garden and the overall project aimed to create a strong connection between the house and existing garden.
