Culnacnoc
Isle of Skye
From elevated ground amongst working crofts, this small stone and blackened timber dwelling captures a panorama spanning from the headland of Rubha nam Brathairean to the escarpments of the Trotternish Ridge.
An historic drystane wall which once crossed the site was carefully repaired, a frameless glass window was cut into it, and a living room lined in pale plywood nestled alongside.
A new wall of locally reclaimed stone and turf wraps around to form an entrance, and enclose a clay plaster-lined shower and bedroom, sheltered from the elements.
